IPBD built and commissioned a camp with accommodation, dining and other facilities for over 700 personnel at Talil Airbase, Nassiriyah, Southern Iraq.

The materials and labour for this project had to be brought in from foreign sources, which was an arduous logistical exercise. IPBD completed the project in difficult circumstances to a tight deadline and met the exacting standards of the client (KBR/US Military).

Full life support facilities were provided by IPBD. This included living containers, purpose-built Dining facility using a Kirby steel structure, and the provision of refrigerated containers for food storage. In addition, IPBD provided a purpose-built recreation facility, an entertainment hall, a clinic with medical staff, generators with back-up, and water/septic tanks.

Workers were accommodated in specially manufactured living containers (12m x 4 m) with a steel base. Eighty units were provided and positioned about 50 cm from floor level on specially constructed concrete bases. All containers were fitted with appropriate electrical panels, smoke alarms and 2 HVAC units.

A Kirby based steel structure (around 1650 sq m) was built on site and divided into separate air conditioned cooking and air conditioned seated serving areas. The Dining Facility provided 3 sit-down meals per day for over 600 workers. The Dining Facilty had its own sub-zero storage facilities for frozen items and a separate storage for fresh items. A separate store was built for keeping dry food items on purpose-built shelves.

A specially built unit was installed on site complete with gym equipment for the use of the workers and a separate hall with TV monitors and seating area.

A clinic with treatment room was installed on site complete with medical staff and medication.
